 多年以来，他们将自己与年轻得多的流行歌星兄弟ChaseDreams和他们的脱口秀主持人母亲进行着比较，而现在布鲁克和卡里总算完全“成功”了。然而，他们却不知为何发现自己将再次与新人进行比较？

　　讲述三个反传统的洛杉矶女人（40多岁好朋友）不约而同跑到克里夫兰，又不约而同住进了同一间房子。当她们意识到当地人觉得她们「很有魅力」后，便决定留下来生活。Betty White扮演她们三人在克里夫兰（农场）的邻居，脾气不好，在那块土地上已经生活了50年。

　　筹备快七年，由“《大小谎言》组姐妹”Reese Witherspoon和Laura Dern参与开发的《微小美丽的事物》（Tiny Beautiful Things）终于获得Hulu正式八集预订，这部半小时喜剧也邀请到了《旺达·幻视》Kathryn Hahn领衔主演，《星星之火》主创Liz Tigelaar担任主创。
　　Reese和Laura以及本剧原著作者Cheryl Strayed相识于《涉足荒野》的拍摄中，当时两人相中了Liz的这本书，并迅速敲定了改编权；2015年，两人将这个项目带到了HBO，并邀请Cheryl和她的老公参与改编。不过最终两人在《大小谎言》才实现再合作（也同时拥有Liane Moriaty另本书的影视改编企划），这个项目却没有了下文。如今Hulu的参与，也最终为这本书的改编之路带来一个全新的起点。
　　本书在2012年推出后，就登上了《纽约时报》畅销书排行榜；她辑录了Cheryl化名为“Dead Sugar”，在一个叫做<The Rumpus>的线上文学网站为许多人提供婚姻建议撰写的专栏文章。以多个时间线作为讲述，即使自己的生活分崩离析，“Dead Sugar”女士也以惊人的坦率、亲切与勇气来拆解其中的美丽、挣扎与幽默。有的时候我们并非无法拯救，因为往往我们会从自己身上获得拯救。

　　利兆天（陶大宇 饰）是香港巨富，他的出身却颇为复杂。原来，以前他的父亲来香港闯荡前曾在老家娶了妻子明星（叶德娴 饰），来港后被富商的女儿白宴（鲍起静 饰）看上，于是又娶了白宴。后来怀孕的明星来港找寻丈夫，白宴大方的让明星入了门。可惜后来和明星一同生产的白宴却小产了，明星 则顺利生下儿子利兆天，利父为了讨好岳父而用兆天顶替了白宴难产的儿子，而将明星送回了老家。明星当时已经怀有了第二胎，回家后的明星又顺利诞下了儿子明智杰（谭耀文 饰），母子俩一直在老家过着清贫的生活。明智杰长大后虽然只是一个出租车司机，但为人却十分上进，极具野心。随后一次偶然机会，智杰救了兆天，并认出了他就是香港巨富，于是带着母亲一同来到香港。随后。智杰进入了兆天的公司工作。
　　智杰和兆天同时爱上了模特路云（周海媚 饰），智杰由此和兆天变得水火不容，两兄弟的恩怨情仇由此展开。

　　在本季的开始，迈克尔(史蒂夫·卡瑞尔 Steve Carell 饰)试图吸引霍莉(艾米·莱安 Amy Ryan 饰)，并最终成功，但大卫·华莱士将她转移到了另一个分支部门，迫使两人在关系在刚开始时就结束了。与此同时，吉姆(约翰·卡拉辛斯基 John Krasinski 饰)和帕姆(珍娜·费舍 Jenna Fischer 饰)则试图克服帕姆在纽约学习艺术时的异地恋困难。而当新老板查尔斯·迈纳(伊德瑞斯·艾尔巴 Idris Elba 饰)上任时，给迈克尔带来了不少麻烦，迈克尔最终无法应对他的变化，于是带着帕姆和瑞安(B·J·诺瓦克 B.J.
